📚 Clive James
Writer and broadcaster Clive James attended Hurstville Opportunity School before a career that carried him from Sydney to Britain. His work ranged across television criticism, memoir, poetry and translation, including a translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy. He became especially familiar to British television audiences for combining a formidable appetite for culture with a sharp comic voice. The Hurstville school connection places part of his education within today’s Georges River area. His later achievements ranged considerably further than the television programmes he made such entertaining sport of reviewing.
